KADİR HAS was born as the son of Nuri-Zekiye HAS in Kayseri in 1921.
He was graduated from Boğaziçi High School in 1942. He married to Rezan Has, who is the daughter of a well known
family called Germirli in Kayseri, in 1942. His father, Nuri HAS, became one of the few richest people and founder of
AKBANK by his tireless efforts, his determination and ability and with many factories and commercial establishments.
After Kadir HAS got married he started his work life. Thanks to his entrepreneurial instinct, his industiousness and determination besides the specialities and the fortune he inherited from his family, he became one of the few important businessmen in Adana with his commercial success on truck and tractor marketing, i.e. automative industry. Kadir HAS,
who moved to Istanbul in 1960, again became one of the few considerable businessmen in Istanbul via his business on automative industry and also his honesty and determination. He built Mercedes Autobus and Truck Factory, and he was
the CEO and a member of the board of directors for many years. He built the CocaCola Company for the first time. TOgether with Koç Family, he became one of the partners of "Karsan", minibus factory for Peugot brand, in Bursa. He became the distributor of Michelin Tires, a French automobile tire brand, for Turkey. Also, he fouded similar commercial entitie in later years. Kadir HAS, after Sabancı Family, has the biggest co-founder share of AKBANK. Kadir HAS, has
achieved success in every enterprise he started and develeoped via his astute management.
Kadir Has was given the Honorary Doctorate Degree on Education Management–Planning and Economy during the Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Senate by Educational Faculty Educational Sciences Department on April 16th, 1998
and also, he was honoured with Honorary Doctorate Degree during Marmara Universtiy Senate by Atatürk Education Faculty on June 30rd, 1998 due to his contributions to the Turkish Education System.
In addition to their contribuition to Turkish nation’s development by establishing "Kadir HAS Foundation,
Specific to
Turkish Education" in 1991 - which is working mostly on education and health areas, Kadir HAS and Rezan HAS also
donated all their income to the above mentioned foundation by their wills. In other words, they believe that donating
one's wealth to where it originates from is a great honor to that person.
